Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes celebrated their third wedding anniversary early as they were set to be apart on the actual day.

Cruise, 47, and Holmes, 30, married in Italy on November 18, 2006 and they celebrated early with a romantic meal at Bricco restaurant in Boston.

It is claimed Cruise surprised his wife by renting out the entire second floor of the restaurant, where they dined on house-made pasta, Chilean sea bass and Wagyu steak.

The couple left their three-year-old daughter Suri at home for the evening and Ron Leduc, director of operations for Bricco, told PEOPLE that “they held hands the entire night”.

On their actual anniversary, Cruise was scheduled to fly out to Austria to start shooting Knight & Day with co-star Cameron Diaz.

Holmes will be busy too as she shoots the movie The Romantics in Long Island, New York.
